Alumni Association
March in the Cherry Festival Parade
July 14, 2012
Lake Superior State University has reserved a spot in Traverse City’s Cherry Royale Parade ,part of the National Cherry Festival held annually in Traverse City, and we need you to help create that authentic Laker presence! We are recruiting LSSU alumni and current students to walk in the parade July 14 with the Laker float/entry. Whether you live in the Traverse City area or are considering traveling there for the National Cherry Festival, you can help! We need alumni and students to carry a Laker flag or banner, hand out LSSU-themed give-aways and show our Lake State pride!
While we welcome alumni of any academic background for our parade entry, we are particularly seeking students and alumni with the following academic backgrounds:
· fish and wildlife management
· biology
· fish health
· other majors who may be involved with the Aquatic Research Lab
· fire science
We plan to have floats featuring the Aquatic Research Laboratory boat (on a trailer) and also fire fighting equipment, in order to promote these unique programs. In subsequent years, we plan to feature other academic programs in the parade. Let us know if you have a suggestion for programs to be featured in 2013!
Laker t-shirts will be provided for all LSSU parade participants.
The Cherry Royale Parade starts at 11:00 am July 14, with line-up beginning earlier that morning. Email us if you are interested in being a part of the Laker entry in the 2012 Cherry Royale Parade, and we will send you additional details and information about LSSU’s participation in this televised event.
