Golden Graduate Society Reunion – May 1 & 2, 2026
As members of our Golden Graduate Society, alumni are invited to participate in Lake Superior State University’s Commencement ceremonies. The Golden Graduate Society includes those who graduated or last attended the University at least 50 years ago — in 1976 or earlier. We define ‘graduation’ year as the last year a student was enrolled at Soo Tech or Lake Superior State College.
In addition, we invite our Golden Graduates to attend a special Golden Graduate Society brunch on Friday, May 1, at 10:30 am, held at the Barch Center for Freshwater Research and Education. The honored class and those attending the reunion for the first time will be presented a commemorative medallion as a remembrance of this significant personal anniversary.

Gift for Today’s Students
Established in 2015 by members of the Society, the LSSU Golden Graduate Society Scholarship Endowment provides financial assistance to students majoring in any course of study. Candidates must complete an essay question that answers why they chose to attend LSSU and what unique historical fact they discovered during their time at the University. Please consider a gift to ensure that today’s students can enjoy the same opportunities you were offered and leave an impactful legacy to their educational experience.

Friday, May 1
- Golden Grad Brunch, 10:30 am
- Location – Barch Center for Freshwater Research and Education (located on Portage Ave. next to the Cloverland Hydroelectric Plant)
- Brunch, medallion presentation, tours of the facility
- Engineering Senior Presentations and Demonstrations, TBD
- Center for Applied Science and Engineering Technology, CAS212
- Campus Tour, TBD
- Take a walking tour of campus to see what’s new! If you’re interested in the tour, please contact the Alumni Office at 906-635-2844.
- When you enter campus from Easterday, go to the first stop sign and take a Left. Wind around the road until you are behind the Cisler Center which will be on your right. Please park behind the Cisler Center in Lot E. Enter Cisler from the lower back door and go up the stairs. At the top go to the first door on the right, Admissions, to meet for your tour.
- School of Nursing Pinning Ceremony, TBD
- LSSU Arts Center – Join us for a special ceremony honoring the 2026 BSN Nursing graduates as they receive their nursing pins from a licensed nurse in the field. Refreshments will be served afterward.
Saturday, May 2
- Gather in Student Activity Center, 8:45 am
- Down the ramp as you pass through the Norris Center Lobby (outside Taffy Abel Arena), Norris Center Building
- Dress in academic regalia, photos with your guest(s) and with LSSU President, Dr. David Travis
- Photo with President Travis at 9:15 am
- Commencement Line-up, 9:30 am
- Student Activity Center (SAC), James Norris Center
- Commencement Ceremony, 10:00 am
- Taffy Abel Arena, James Norris Center
- Golden Grad Society leads procession of LSSU graduates from Student Activity Center (SAC) into Taffy Abel Arena
- Distinguished Teacher Reception, 12:00 pm (immediately following Commencement)
