♦ 7pm, Dave Fenley in Concert – Arts Center

You might recognize Dave Fenley from his 2013 stint on America’s Got Talent Season 8 or as part of Team Blake in The Voice Season 15. Though he did not win these competitions, he blew us away with his awesome vocals and his heart-strumming guitar skills. Join us for his ‘genre-free philosophy’ musical style that ranges from country to soul.  Contact the Arts Center Box Office for discounted tickets when you mention GLSW or order your tickets online.

Friday, October 13

Stop by our Welcome Center located in the Norris Center Lobby to purchase or pick up your hockey tickets, purchase Alumni Awards & Hall of Fame Reception tickets, and your pre-ordered GLSW  t-shirts.  This is also an opportunity to visit with other attendees and for us to welcome you to campus.

◊ 12 pm – 4 pm, Campus Duck Hunt – LSSU Campus & Downtown
Search for rubber ducks for a chance to win prizes.  Ducks will be hidden in the common areas of the CASET, Crawford, Considine, Library, Cisler Center, Lukenda Alumni House, Arts Center and the Norris Center, as well as at participating downtown Sault Ste. Marie merchants!

♦ 2 pm – 4 pm, Elevator Pitch Competition – Considine Hall, Café
Give your pitch to your peers for the opportunity to receive prizes!! First prize for community pitch $400, first prize for student pitch $400, and audience favorite $200. Register online today!

Stop by the Richard and Theresa Barch Center for Freshwater Research & Education to experience the Dr. Constance Baker Discovery Center.  Located next to the Cloverland Hydroelectric Plant on Portage Ave.!

LSSU Nursing Alumni and MyMichigan Medical Center Sault employees are invited to join us for light refreshments, a cash bar, and tours of the Simulation Center conducted by the SIM Center Staff. Visit us online to register for the Open House.

Join in the fun and participate in the annual KINS Club 5k Fun Walk/Run.Win one of the many door prizes donated by our wonderful sponsors, and medals will be provided for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers for men and for women. It’s Salmon Saturday!  Stop by to visit the Dr. Constance Baker Discovery Center where today’s focus will be on raising Atlantic salmon in the hatchery and how the salmon fit into the Great Lakes food web.  Located next to the Cloverland Hydroelectric Plant on Portage Ave.

Come tour the newly opened Micro Analysis and Spectroscopic Characterization (MASC) Laboratory, Cannabis Center of Excellence, and Aquaponics Learning Laboratory. A social with refreshments will be held for students, parents, alumni, and friends on the 2nd floor in the Crawford atrium.

♥ 12 pm, Alumni Awards and Hall of Fame Reception – Cisler Center – Superior Room
We will recognize some of LSSU’s most accomplished alumni and athletes during this time-honored event. To be held in the Superior Room at Cisler Center. Tickets are $10. ♥ 12 pm – 2 pm, Oozeball (Volleyball in the mud) – Sand Volleyball Courts-Near Bookstore
*NEW LOCATION* Teams will compete for the coveted Oozeball trophy and bragging rights for the year. Oozeball is a 3-on-3 volleyball tournament played in mud. You will not want to miss this opportunity to compete with and against your classmates, coworkers and friends. Oozeball is open to all students, faculty/staff, alumni, and university friends/family/community members. You can have up to 5 members on a team. Camp Seamore, hosted by CAMP LSSU, will have academic activities and experiments planned for Great Lake State Weekend for kids ages 6-14 years old. Join us in the Quarterdeck (located in Cisler Center) at 12pm for lunch, with the program to start immediately following in the Crawford Hall lobby at 12:30pm (meet in the Crawford Hall lobby at 12:30pm if not participating in lunch at the QD).  This camp will end at 2:30pm on October 14, 2023. ♦ 1 pm – 4 pm, Robotics Lab Open House – Center for Applied Science, Engineering & Technology (CASET), Lower Level
We are excited to invite LSSU Alumni and the community to a Robotics Lab Center Open House at Lake Superior State University during Great Lake State Weekend. The LSSU Robotics Lab is located on the lower level of the Center for Applied Science, Engineering & Technology (CASET) Building. The entrance is located on the North side of the building from the parking lot overlooking the international bridge.

◊ 2 pm – 6 pm, Community Graffiti – Pleger Commons/Norris Center, Student Activities Center
Visitors can leave their mark on a large canvas to commemorate GLSW 2023. The canvas will be displayed in the Norris Center. Event will be located on Pleger Commons from 2pm-4pm, and then at the pre-game Tailgate in the SAC from 4pm-6pm.

From the University that brought you Unicorn Hunting, we are pleased to offer the opportunity for your children to swim with Miss Mermaid Michigan. Bring your children to the Norris Center pool for this exciting opportunity!

Enjoy food, music, games, and a cash bar featuring LSSU’s first ever BEERBONI!  Socialize with fellow Lakers and friends.  Event is open to everyone!  Food at the tailgate is $5 for adults, kids under 12 free, LSSU Students free with student ID.  and socializing with fellow Lakers and friends.

Calling all dreamers and believers! Experience the ultimate fairytale adventure with a real live unicorn ride. For adults and kids of all ages.

Show some Laker Spirit and get your face painted for the game!  Kids of all ages are welcome!

We are proud to invite you and your families to a special social event to kickstart a year-long celebration in honor of the 25th Anniversary of LSSU Engineering Programs and the 75th Anniversary of LSSU Engineering Technology Programs. Join us immediately following the hockey game for a movie and a skate!  A truly unique opportunity to watch the feature movie “Mystery Alaska” (it’s a hockey movie, and we just hosted Alaska Anchorage … see what we did there?!) on the jumbotron while skating or sitting in the stands.
