Great Lake State Weekend (GLSW) is happening October 23–24, 2026.
A longtime LSSU tradition since 1995, GLSW brings the campus community together for a homecoming-style celebration of Laker pride, including events such as Laker Hockey vs. Bowling Green, the Alumni Awards & Hall of Fame Ceremony, a Tailgate Party, and activities for students, families, alumni, and friends.

Great Lake State Weekend
Great Lake State Weekend (GLSW) began in 1995 and is LSSU’s Homecoming Weekend for students, alumni, families and the Sault Ste. Marie community.
LSSU Students: Nominate your parents for the Bud & Mary Mansfield Parents of the Year Award
Every year, LSSU students nominate their Parents for this award. Honorees will receive:
- Free hotel room (Friday & Saturday) during Great Lake State Weekend
- Free tickets to Alumni Awards Banquet, award presented by LSSU President
- Free hockey tickets for Friday & Saturday games
- Free GLSW package including t-shirts and discounts
