Marilyn King ’96

Marilyn was awarded the Chamber of Commerce Athena Award with her career spanning almost 5 decades mentoring others. The Athena Award is presented to a woman recognized for her professional excellence, assisting other women in attaining their professional goals, and making a difference in her community.

Matthew Brumm ’96

Matthew retired from the Milford Police Department on April 9, 2022 after 25 years of service. He received his degree in criminal science from Lake Superior State University in 1996 and was hired a few months later by Milford’s Police Department. Matthew started as a patrol officer, where he investigated crimes, served as a DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) instructor and was the first officer in the Milford PD trained for motorcycle patrol.

Scott Tarasiewicz ’99

Scott was named Police Chief of the Milford Police Department. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree in criminal justice from LSSU and graduated as class vice president from the Northwestern Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command in 2013.

John Pistulka ’83

John was inducted into this year’s class of the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame. While attending LSSU, Pistulka set the record for rebounding in a single-season in 1982-83. After graduating from LSSU, Pistulka signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Vikings and played in the Global Cup, the first NFL game in Europe in ’83, then became a professional wrestler.
